The humbling reality of shadowing climbing lessons
Yesterday, I spent an awkward 6 hours shadowing climbing lessons at The Big Depot Manchester.
It was a combination of fascinating, fun and really uncomfortable. You feel like such a spare part when you are shadowing 😂.
As adults, we rarely choose to put ourselves in situations where we aren’t the experts, where we feel out of place and don’t know what we are doing.
The real benefits of getting out of your comfort zone
But through my journey of building a microadventure business and learning new sports, I’ve realised that the awkward and humble phase is a vital part of the growth process.
You can’t get to the ‘Aha!’ moments, the thrill of movement, or the pure joy of mastery without first being willing to feel out of your depth.
But I promise you it is 100% worth the pain of feeling wobbly. I highly recommend it. I’ve had so many amazing moments of elation in the last few years.
