A classic Cheshire lowland circular walk which loops around the Middlewood Way and back along the Macclesfield Canal

Route description
The Middlewood Way follows the line of the former Macclesfield, Bollington and Marple Railway through picturesque Cheshire countryside andbetween historic mill towns.
Our route begins at Nelson’s Pit Visitor Centre car park and heads north along the Middlewood Way passing the train station less than 1km in. We head underneath the A6 looping back on ourselves at High Lane to follow the Macclesfield Canal back to our starting point. A simple and pleasurable countryside stroll, mostly on good, flat surfaces.
Route: Higher Poynton – Middlewood Way – Middlewood station – High Lane – Macclesfield Canal – Higher Poynton
